Forensics: The Anatomy of Crime – Val McDermid

20150628_111928Val McDermid has long been one of my favourite authors so I was delighted to come across this book.  I’d heard of it but wasn’t exactly sure what it was about and whether it was fiction or non-fiction.  According to the blurb, it draws on interviews with top-level professionals and draws on Val’s own experiences.

I happened upon this book while wandering round Foyles on Waterloo Station in my lunch hour.  I was tempted, very tempted but it was £12.99 and while I can afford it, I read so vicariously that I try to get books at the cheapest possible prices.  I have a favourite charity shop that I regularly haunt, I have a kindle and also use Amazon.  In this case Amazon was my best bet because the book was a bit specialist and I didn’t want to wait.  I was aware that there would be a price difference but I wasn’t aware just how much.  This book cost me £4.00!!  That is a third of the price, a saving of £8.00.  I’m all for supporting book shops but I can’t justify spending £12.00 on a book that I could get for £4.00.

That aside, I’m looking forward to getting started on this book and posting a review when I’m done!
